Small Hands Outdoor Education (SHOE)

Small Hands Outdoor Education (SHOE) allows teachers to lead a range of outdoor learning activities in a natural setting with socially distanced measures in place. We have brought indoor classes to the outdoors which helps children become more in tune with their surroundings while fostering an appreciation for the natural world. In our Outdoor Education program, children have, for example, Circle Time sitting on the grass, Story Time sitting on logs, and free play running around and picking mulberries from our trees. Teachers design, plan, and deliver a range of activities that help contribute to children’s personal and social development.

Our goal this year is to keep children outdoors as long as possible. We ask that parents dress children according to the weather on a daily basis, have extra clothes for different types of weather left at school and that they, too, at home, create a sense of positivity and excitement for the outdoors!
